Matt Gaetz belongs to the group of Republicans who want Robert Mueller to step down from his role as special counsel in the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election. On Wednesday, Gaetz called for Special Counsel Robert Mueller to resign or to be fired.
“We are at risk of a coup d’état in this country if we allow an unaccountable person with no oversight to undermine the duly-elected President of the United States. That is precisely what is happening right now with the indisputable conflicts of interest that are present with Mr. Mueller and others at the Department of Justice,” Gaetz said in a speech on the House floor.
“I join … in calling for Mr. Mueller’s resignation or his firing,” he continued.
Gaetz very well pointed out why Mueller should resign. Last week, he introduced a resolution which claims that Mueller is compromised because he was FBI director at the time when Obama administration signed the controversial Uranium One Deal.
“These deeply troubling events took place when Mr. Mueller was the Director of the FBI. As such, his impartiality is hopelessly compromised. He must step down immediately,” Gaetz explained.
During his Wednesday speech, Gaetz also unloaded on Clintons, urging the Justice Department to appoint a special counsel to “investigate the Clinton Foundation, the Uranium One deal and the Fusion GPS dossier.”
Beside Gaetz, the other Republicans who want Mueller to resign are Andy Biggs of Arizona, Louie Gohmert of Texas, and Jim Jordan of Ohio.
Matt Gaetz made an excellent point why Mueller should resign. Obviously, Mueller isn’t the appropriate person to led the Russia collusion probe. The fact that most around him are Democrats clearly points out that they won’t do anything which could harm their beloved Hillary Clinton.
